Class Description

This class is intended for students aged 5-7 who have a basic command of Greek. By the end of the year, students attending the class will know how to read and write all the letters of the Greek alphabet, will be able to count to 100, and will begin to read simple words. Instruction will take place by means of a combined use of play, hands-on experience, and a variety of stimulating activities building on the kindergarteners’ skills, available resources, as well as the broader socio-cultural environment.

Instructor

Vasiliki Kapetanoudi Kotsiopulou | Γειά σας! My name is Vasiliki Kapetanoudi Kotsiopulou. I was born in Germany from Greek immigrant parents. I attended two different schools every day: one in Greek and another in German; therefore, I know first-hand what it means to be bilingual and how much I have benefited from that experience. In Germany, I pursued a degree in Physical Therapy. Later, I moved to Greece and worked in a preschool environment. I also worked as a physical therapist and as an accountant for a German company in Greece. After relocating to the US, I started a family. In Sacramento, I have worked as an instructional aid at the Kindergarten level for English-speaking students. This will be my third year teaching at the Annunciation Greek School.

My personal motto is to try and see through my students’ eyes so as to better understand them, and make learning easy, fun, and exciting for them. Being Greek, I enjoy communicating my love of Greek language, history and culture to my students.
